  • Gala Coral In the Firing Line?

By Lisa West on Thursday, 25th June 2009

While Mecca Bingo can look forward to a 62million rebate, for overpayment of Tax, unlawfully charged by the UK Customs and Excise, Gala Coral could be looking at a multi million dollar tax bill.  It has been reported that Gala Coral, who are already struggling to pay off billions of pounds worth of debt, may have to face another blow from the UK government.  Primarily, if the government goes ahead with a crack down on the £500 Jackpot, Roulette Slot Machines. A big earner for the Gala Coral.

It is also believed that the UK Chancellor, Alistair Darling, will be targeting these machines for more tax increases in the future.  A study carried out in 2007 indicated that around one in nine, Roulette Slot Machine players had a gambling problem. The Gambling Commission have now become involved, and it’s expected that they will advise Gerry Sutcliffe, the UK Culture Minister, to order more research into the problem.

Word is, the Gambling Commission have also discussed their belief that Gala Bingo Halls, along with others, have manipulated the rules, and their local licensing authorities, in order to install more of these, big money, Jackpot slots into their clubs.

Currently, the amount of Roulette Slot Machines any single club can have is limited.  However, the commission believes that the Gala Bingo Halls have organised subdivisions within their clubs, in order to be granted multiple licences.  The way things stand, the Gambling Commission sets out guidelines for local authorities, however, they are free to make their own decisions, and, there’s nothing the commission can actually do, to enforce those guidelines. It’s not just Gala Coral in the firing line.  However, they are one of the most vulnerable companies if the government decides to crack down.

  • Join The ‘Back Bingo Campaign’!

By Lisa West on Sunday, 21st June 2009

The UK Bingo Industry has already been buckling under heavy financial strains, mainly, brought on by the no smoking ban, and the current worldwide economic meltdown. Many UK Bingo Clubs have been forced to close down, and others are facing the same fate.  There has been some renewed optimism, within the Bingo Industry, due to the appointment of Brian Mattingley, as the new Chairman of the UK Bingo Association.

The UK Bingo Association is the trade association for licensed UK Bingo Clubs. They are currently the Back Bingo Campaign, a petition by the UK Bingo Industry to reverse Chancellor Darling’s huge hike on Bingo tax duty, from fifteen to twenty two percent. If the new tax duty does go ahead, many believe it will be the final nail in the coffin for many of the UK Bingo Clubs.

To help UK Bingo Clubs, the UK Bingo Industry are asking that everyone join in the campaign.  You can sign the Downing Street petition, by going to the UK Bingo Association website.  Another way you can help is by writing to your MP, and joining the Facebook Back Bingo Campaign.

UK Bingo Clubs need all the help they can get right now.  Even if you don’t have a local club, and are a dedicated Online Bingo player, you can still lend a helping hand by signing the petition. If you are a Bingo Club fan, why not join the Back Bingo Campaign?

Mattingley has plenty of experience, within the Bingo Industry, and here’s hoping, he can help the UK Bingo Clubs get back on their feet. The industry itself does seem to have gained a certain amount of renewed optimism.  When Bingo Clubs close, people lose a part of their community AND their jobs. So you really will be doing ‘real people’ a big favour, by signing joining in with the Back Bingo Campaign.

  • Bingo Tax Backlash!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 1st July 2009

The government has been ‘giving it’ to the Bingo Industry for some time now. Can’t have this, must pay that, tax, no smoking… Blimey! You’d be better off joining the Foreign legion than joining a local Bingo Hall! No wonder Online Bingo is doing so well, at least you don’t have to go outside for a smoke, and can get plenty of Free Bingo. A luxury Bingo Halls can’t afford to offer these days. In fact, the way things are going, the best you can look forward to is a sneaky fag outside the men’s toilet, a Coke and a couple of games for a tenner!

Well finally, Carlisle Bingo Players have had enough! They have joined the new push to protest and lobby their local MP to stop the new tax hype finishing off their already struggling Bingo Hall forever. While the smoking ban is one thing, (although I don’t see any MP’s changing their big, flash, polluting, asthma inducing, climate changing cars for a nice, practical, eco-friendly model) a 7% raise in tax is another… Hey! What do they care? Without doubt, they’ve kept their pay rises inline with inflation…

Obviously, 15% just isn’t enough to redecorate No. 10 this year, or service those big cars. So, as usual, why not give it to UK Bingo Players? just once more? After all, it’s only fun we’re talking about, and after you’ve worked like a power tool all week to pay local taxes and buy a loaf of bread, who needs a bit of relaxation? We’re just want, want, want ey guys?

Over 1,200 local Bingo Players have written to Eric Martlew, the local MP for Carlisle, to protest about the latest tax hype. Peter Lawton, owner of the Rex Bingo Hall located around the Denton Holme area of Carlisle, stated that they, like many other Bingo Halls in the UK, were already struggling to keep their heads above water. Lawton expects the latest rise will add more than £17,500 to his already substantial tax bill… not exactly peanuts! But that’s probably all he’ll have to look forward to this lunchtime!

  • Gala bingo gives 96 year old Granny a Lifetime Ban?

By Lisa West on Thursday, 2nd July 2009

As an Online Bingo Player, I’ve only ever heard stories of how people can get very upset if someone takes their lucky chair, or they don’t have their favourite dabber, or lucky rat's foot (whatever!) when playing at their local Bingo Hall. Curiously, it did conjure up images of rabid, blue rinse ladies stabbing me with their knitting needles should I ever venture into this world (I have a dark sense of humor!) and, God forbid, be unfortunate enough to sit in the wrong place. However, it seems this wasn’t so far from a possibility after all!

The Pollock Gala Bingo Hall in Glasgow has just had to ban a 96 year old Bingo Player for giving the manager a left hook and threatening another Player. It seems the 96 year old had already become somewhat notorious, being well known for her hot temper and argumentative nature. The Gala Bingo Hall imposed the ‘lifetime ban’??? after this hot headed lady told the player she would have to face ‘Dire Consequences’ if she didn’t move out of her favourite seat.  Wow! Let’s hope she doesn’t own one of those ‘wheeley’ shopping bags! This is one serious lady!

The offending Bingo Player refused to move, and the manager was called to try and sort the problem out. To which, he received a swift whack in the head for his trouble… As you would expect, people were left shocked by the behaviour of the 96 year old, although this isn’t the first time she had become abusive. Gala Bingo officials are said to be shocked too, commenting that the incident was ‘shocking from someone of that age’. Gala Bingo made a decision after ‘lengthy discussions’, deciding that they couldn’t let hot headed Bingo Players of any age, attack their staff either verbally, or physically. No matter how old they are!

  • Ladbrokes Bingo to the rescue!

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 30th June 2009

A seventy six year old pensioner has been thrown out of Mecca Bingo for organising a day trip to a rival Bingo Hall. Yep! That’s right. Little did the unsuspecting pensioner know, looking for a change of scenery would mark the end of her days at Mecca Bingo. Just as well we don’t function like that with Online Bingo! To be quite honest, words fail me—and that’s a first!

Rose Clemson had been a loyal player at her local Mecca Bingo Hall, in Chester, for fifty years. Rose was organising a coach trip when the Duty Manager at her local Mecca Bingo Hall ordered her to stop her naughtiness! After challenging the manager, both Rose and her seventy three year old hubby were escorted off the premises and both received a lifetime ban from every Mecca establishment in the UK. Since then, Rose has been pining for a game of Bingo, and lucky for her, Ladbrokes, Online Bingo have come to the rescue!

Ladbrokes Bingo have adorned Rose with a fab laptop and the benefit of a monthly Bingo allowance in her account. She will also be bombing around the streets of Chester on a flash new mobility scooter, courtesy of Ladbrokes Bingo! To return the favour, all rose has to do is tell people about her new Online Bingo experience and advise Ladbrokes with regards to their new promotions and games.

A Mecca Bingo spokesperson confirmed that Rose and her hubby were banned, and ‘stressed’ that Mecca don’t “take the decision to bar people lightly”. Hey! Are they SURE about that? Rose can now look forward to her new ‘career’ with Ladbrokes, and enjoy all the benfits Online Bingo has to offer. As Rose puts it herself, “every cloud does have a silver lining”…

  • Hot Bingo Chat with Big Brothers Nasty Nick!!

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 7th July 2009

In response to Gala Bingo’s new Big Bro TV show, which is now running every Sunday, Virgin Bingo have brought back Nasty Nick Bateman… Definitely, in my books, the Ace card in the pack. While the others will be smiling and sliming their way into your good books (and probably boring you to death, while they do it), you can bet Nasty Nick with have a few more tricks up his sleeve, and be keeping his newfound Bingo audience intrigued! Give me personality over the sublime any day of the week…

Okay, that might sound pessimistic for Gala, and Optimistic for Virgin Bingo. But come on guys, what entertains you more? Really? Let’s face it, while many of the other ex-housemates have fallen into the darkest, deepest recesses of your ‘who give a s**t’ memory bank, when it comes to Nick the Nasty, love him or loath him, you just can’t forget him! You might ask yourself, what does all this have to do with Bingo? Gossip of course! Bingo Chat is a big part of the game. With naughty, and Nasty Nick joining in, you can guarantee, there’s going to be plenty to Chat about. It’ll keep those Bingo Chat rooms running hot for weeks!

Virgin Bingo has scheduled this special Bingo Chat event for July 18th at 8pm. Nasty Nick will be joining in with the Bingo Games and answering your questions… You can’t tell me you don’t have any! If you haven’t registered yet, right now, you can get a 100% cash match bonus on your first deposit. Minimum deposit is just £5. Virgin Bingo always have a cool selection of promotions, and have given away some incredible prizes to date. • New!!!! Eyes Down Bingo - No Deposit

By Lisa West on Friday, 10th July 2009

No Deposit Bingo is becoming a rare commodity these days, so you’d better hurry up before Eyes Down Bingo change their mind too!  This is the latest, New Online Bingo offering from Parlay Entertainment.  The design is cute, all fluffy, pink and girlie looking.  Nothing flash, no superstars, (or Big Brother housemates - lol).  Just the good old 75 and 90ball Bingo Games. Along with a daily slot ‘event’, where you can win and spin! Plus Video Poker, Keno and all the usual distractions!!  There’s no download, and they don’t ask for your credit card details at registration. So not a lot to lose here!

I love No Deposit Bingo.  Even if they had a one eyed beagle doing the calling, and 50balls on the go, I’d be there!  As it goes, Eyes Down Bingo have a very nice Northern lady doing the calling, and she’s got the usual set of balls we’ve come to expect!!!  I leave that with you… Sign up, and the No Deposit Bingo Bonus of £10 is yours. No catch, no waiting, no filing for divorce to be eligible!  That’s a 100 Free Bingo Games, just there for the taking.  On top of that, if you do deposit, they will also give you a 150% Bonus on your first deposit, and a guaranteed 50% on deposits after that.  They also offer a couple of other ‘special’ Deposit Bonuses, but you’ll need to check them out yourself.  Coz, I’m not going to spend the whole article rambling on about them. I got other fish to fry!

For a New Online Bingo website, the Jackpot Bingo Games are pretty good.  Eyes Down Bingo also has a couple of New Online Bingo side games on offer, Bingo Wars, and Oddly Enough.  In Bingo Wars, players bet on whether the last number called will be higher, or lower than the first.  Oddly Enough is a ‘virtual’ Bingo Game’, where players predict if more odd than even numbers will be called.  Both, nice and simple, so if you’ve had a few Martinis, the rules won’t get the best of you! Another Bonus!!

  • King Jackpot Bingo Wears the 3D Crown of Online Bingo

By Lisa West on Sunday, 12th July 2009

Being a big (BIG!!!) Sims fan for many years, I just love the 3D graphics at King Jackpot Bingo.  Awesome!!  It just makes the whole Online Bingo experience soooo realistic.  King Jackpot Bingo has been around a while now, since 2004 in fact.  They don’t have the publicity of sites like Foxy, or Crown, but they do have the awesome graphics and games, provided by Leapfrog Software.  A company renowned for their 3D, ‘virtual’ Bingo Hall, graphics creations. If you’re not a big 3D Games player, don’t be put of by the techie graphics, the site is easy to use.  Even if you’ve never been to a Bingo Hall in your life, you’ll find your way around, no problem.

You do need to download software, to play Online Bingo at King Jackpot.  If you have a fast connection, this can be sorted in about five minutes.  It might take another five, even ten, if your on an old line, but believe me when I say.  It truly is going to be worth it!  King Jackpot Bingo have the classic UK 90Ball Bingo Game, and the American 75Ball.  Plus, a whole collection of side games; slots, scratch cards, video poker and more… there is something for everyone, and moving around from one Bingo Hall to another is also a lot of fun!

King Jackpot Bingo will give all new players a £10, No Deposit Bonus, to take a look around.  On the house!  Every player has their own Avatar, although you can only personalise it to a point.  I have to say, one of the down features for me….  However, the fact everyone has Avatars, and you can see each other, makes it really interactive and a load more fun.  Makes that little chat box ‘thing’, seem truly ‘old school’…which it is!!!  Once everyone takes their seat, it’s time to play Bingo!!! (You can even see how many numbers others players need to win!).  If you like the site, and decide to deposit, King Jackpot will match it, 100%, plus, they will give you 20% on every deposit after that.  An truly incredible, Online Bingo, gaming experience…

  • £1.2 Million Mecca Online Bingo Jackpot

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 8th July 2009

Seems like Mecca Bingo are always in the news, for one reason or another, these days, and it certainly seems like that £62 Million Tax Rebate will be coming in handy! Because one lucky player, from Cumbria, has just won £1.2 million playing Online Bingo at the Mecca Bingo website. It has also been confirmed, by Mecca officials, this is the biggest payout, ever, for the Mecca Online Bingo site. A spokesman stated that the company think it’s “fantastic news”. Lynsey Mirehouse thought she’d take a quick spin on Mecca’s ‘Clover Rollover Progressive Jackpot’ slot game, and couldn’t believe her luck when those five lucky shamrocks dropped into place. I bet she couldn’t!

The Mecca Bingo Clover Rollover has been on the rise for months now, and the air has been thick with anticipation among Mecca’s Online Bingo players for a while. Especially since it hit that magical £1 million mark! Lucky Lynsey threw a party at home, and along with hubby, Barry, they celebrated by having a few friends over for drinks. Apparently, they haven’t had much rest since, with the shock. Or is the wine??!!! Lyn, who works for a Workington insurance company, hasn’t decided what to do with the money yet, apart from she’s going to treat her dog! (no mention of the treating hubby - like her style).

Lyn will be receiving her money, from Mecca Bingo superstar, Bingo Dave, in a few weeks time. At a special VIP presentation in London. The Mecca Bingo Clover Rollover has now been reset to a cool quarter of a million… Definitely not to be sniffed at! Like Lyn, you could be the next lucky player to roll over in the clover at Mecca Bingo. But, If you don’t play, there’s no way!!! If you haven’t signed up yet, that’s probably a good sign. Like Lyn, every big winner seems to be new, or nearly new to Online Bingo. So, what you waiting for? It just might be you!

  • Kiss My Bingo!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 15th July 2009

KissmyBingo has just turned up with a great new look, and bless her, she is looking good! The colours are really easy on the eye, one of the sweetest designs I’ve seen in a long time. Without the fluffy stuff! Well, the new design should definitely be getting her a few looks now, but lets just have a quick peek underneath. Just to see if this New Online Bingo site is really as sweet as she looks.

Looks promising, because there’s a banner saying “£30 free on your first deposit, as long as you make a minimum deposit of £10”. But then, hey hey… On the promotions page it says Kiss My Bingo will match your first deposit up to £150.…They even go on to explain; if you deposit £20, they will give you £20. If you deposit £100, then they’ll give you £100...so how can I get £30 for £10? Is Kiss My Bingo teasing? Oohhh, I can sense the sour taste already!

Kiss My Bingo is run by Cashcade. If you had registered on the old site, you can still use it, at the minute. That one has now been renamed the KissmyBingo Original. However, anyone who wants to play on the new site needs to register a new account. Most Online Bingo websites, that are ‘born again’, take their old members with them. But, it’s not so bad! At least you’ll get a welcome bonus for your trouble. Whatever that turns out to be!

KissmyBingo offer 90 and 75 Ball Bingo, and tickets start at 5p. Not the cheapest, but the Guaranteed Jackpots are good. They have some great slots, casino and instant games too. However, the best bit is the FREE BINGO! And it’s everyday, 12 hours a day. The prizes are paid in cash, so we have ourselves a real win, win situation. If you’re not happy with that, well you can Kiss My Bingo!

  • 888 Has A Change of Heart

By Lisa West on Friday, 17th July 2009

It wasn’t just an Online Bingo rumour.  888 Bingo and Gaming have definitely been chewing over whether to buy out Cashcade, or not.  However, ultimately, it has been confirmed that no deal will be going ahead.  Cashcade is the parent company for some of the top Online Bingo websites.  Including, Think, Foxy and Cheeky Bingo.

The chief executive of 888 Bingo & Gaming, Gigi Levy stated that other gaming companies were willing to pay more for Cashcade.  The big rumour has always been that 888 Bingo don’t have the capital to seal the deal.

This has been revoked by Levy, who stated that it wasn’t they didn’t have the finances.  It was that they simply were not willing to “ pay the price” Cashcade were asking for.

With 888 Bingo and Gaming now out of the bidding, the competition should hot up.  Who will be sealing the deal with Cashcade?  How will that affect Online Bingo Players?  It is thought that it will be Party Gaming who will be acquiring Cashcade.  Apparently, it’s just down to sorting the paperwork.  Independent News and Media hold sixteen percent of shares in Cashcade.  They have been having a few financial problems of late, and so are very keen to get the deal finalised as soon as possible.

It seems 888 Online Bingo will continue to use the Cashcade software, and have already signed up for another two year contract.  Globalcom, a division of 888 Bingo and Gaming, provides the software for over eighty percent of Cashcades Bingo Sites. Therefore, Cascade is an important income earner for Globalcom.  Another division of 888 is Dragon Fish.  They have been busy lately, making new deals with various ‘white label’ partners.  However, the new owners of Cashcade will be able to use other platforms, for any of new sites they operate.  This could cause problems for 888, but ultimately, only time will tell.

  • The Sun Bingo Prize Bonanza!!!

By Lisa West on Friday, 24th July 2009

WOW!!  Sun Bingo really know how to put on a promotion.  Since 2006, the Sun has coughed up more than ONE HUNDRED MILLION in cash and prizes.  Now, to celebrate that achievement, they have ONE HUNDRED FIAT PANDA CARS up for grabs.  That’s going to make a lot of Online Bingo players happy.  Well, one hundred of them at least!  The new promotion started on the 17th of July, and is running until September 27th.  Every day, one lucky winner will be driving off in a new car.  Apparently, all winners will have to cough up for their own insurance, which seems a little tight!!!  But hey, I bet none of them will be complaining.  Small price to pay!

To enter in to the daily prize draw, players must spend at least £2 on Sun Bingo, or £10 on the slots, in one day.   Players who make a deposit and play the minimum £2, get two entries into the draw.  If you haven’t registered yet, they will also give new players an extra entry into the draw.  That means, new players can get up to three entries in just one day.  Another good reason to get registered, if you haven’t already.  Apparently, some days, more cars will be up for grabs.  So well worth keeping you eye on the ball (or your hands on the steering wheel!), as they say.

Sun Bingo did use the Tombola software, before the powers that be decided to change over to Gamesy.  It wasn’t that the Tombola Software wasn’t good - we all know that Tombola has gone from strength to strength over the last twelve months.  It was just about control.  Sun Bingo wanted to ‘be alone’, as that lady so famously said. Today, Sun Bingo have become one of the leading Online Bingo websites around.

  • £20 Free No Deposit Bonus at Bingo Scotland!

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 28th July 2009

As I know there’s no-one who can refuse a Free No Deposit Bonus!  So I thought I’d let you know about this one.  Just in case anyone missed it!  At a time when the good old Free No Deposit Bonus is becoming a bit thin on the ground, Bingo Scotland has generously come to the rescue.  Right now, all newly registered players can help themselves to a big, fat, £20 Deposit.  Without having to had over a single penny.  Like many of the Online Bingo websites with this offer, a credit or debit card has to be registered.  But I guess, that’s not a lot to ask… That is, as long as you don’t use an alternative payment method, because you don't actually have a credit or debit card.

Bingo Scotland are one of the leading Online Bingo websites, and have two sister sites, Little Big Bingo and Think Bingo.  They haven’t had a Free No Deposit Bingo Bonus before.  This is a first for Bingo Scotland, and who knows how long it will be around.  It seems likely it’s all part of their new promotional ‘push’.  So, odds are, when that’s over so might the Free £20 be.  With offers like these, it is always best to get in there quick.

With a name like Bingo Scotland, you might think this Online Bingo website is only for those who live there.  Not so, although the site is very ‘Scottish’ looking…and sounding!   With it’s blue tartan background and games like “True Blue” and the  “Scot Pot”.  Bingo Scotland has the 90Ball and 75Ball Bingo games and plenty of jackpots up for grabs.  However, they do not offer any casinos, instants or any other side games.  This is a pure bred, all Bingo website!  You can’t win any prizes or cash with the Free No Deposit Bingo money.  But you can have a lot of fun!

  • Tombola are officially the most visited UK Online Bingo Website!

By Lisa West on Sunday, 26th July 2009

It’s official!  Tombola Bingo is the most visited UK Online Bingo website.  Can’t help wondering, how the Sun Bingo head honchos are taking the news.  Of course, you have to take into account, when they split from Tombola, about a year ago now, it was Tombola who kept all the members.  There has been a lot of hearsay to date, with regards to who is actually the busiest UK Online Bingo website.  Although a lot of people in the industry already thought Tombola Bingo was top, now, it has been proved that’s true.  The research was carried out by Hitwise, so it'is fairly conclusive and comprehensive.

Tombola Bingo have scheduled a BIG seven MILLION pound promotional push for next month. No doubt, in a bid to ensure they don’t lose that very notable title!  So, what makes Tombola the most logged into UK Online Bingo website?  There’s no doubt about it, they do dosh out a mountain of cash every week.  THREE MILLION in fact!  If you haven’t signed up yet, right now Tombola are offering a 100% Cash match on the first deposit.  Sorry… no free cash without handing over some cash!  The minimum deposit is £10, and the maximum cash match you’ll get is £25.  Seen better, but it’s not bad!

A lot of people like the fact that the games at Tombola Bingo are exclusive.  They don’t use anyone the software of anyone else, and since the split with the Sun Bingo, neither does anyone else use theirs!  Tombola also keep the regulars happy by keeping their promotions fresh and frequent.  Adding new games on a regular basis.  With more than forty Chat rooms available, Chat Games are BIG at Tombola.  This is an Online Bingo website that is renowned for their lively Bingo community.  No doubt, another reason why they have become the most visited UK Online Bingo website!

  • Grace Yourselves!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 29th July 2009

Looks like the sale of Cashcade isn’t going to get in the way of business!  Introducing their latest offering, Grace Bingo.  This new Bingo website has all the ‘magic ingredients’, that seems essential to success, in the world of Online Bingo.  Whether it will make to the heights of Cashcade’s biggest brands, Cheeky and Foxy, we will all have to wait and see.  However, it looks like they are definitely in for the penny, and in for the pound!

The design of Graces Bingo is a bit disappointing.  You definitely get the feeling you’ve been here before!  Very pink, and, I would even go as far to say, boring..  However, it’s not really about how good the wallpaper is, it’s about the BINGO!!  So, what exactly is Grace offering their new players right now?  Graces Bingo offers Free Bingo, twelve hours a day, every day, from 10.15am.  However, they aren’t giving newcomers any Free Bingo cash.  You will have to deposit a tenner, to try the site out.  However, they will ‘grace’ you with a free £30 bonus.

If anyone decides to deposit again, Graces Bingo will reward them with a 100% deposit, up to a maximum of £150.  In addition to that, players give 50% on all reloads after that.  So, there’s plenty of Free Bingo games to be had for your money.  Not all the new Online Bingo operators have a loyalty scheme, despite the fact they know this keeps the players happy.  Seems like there’s no flies on Grace, coz she has already pledged to reward loyal players.  There is nothing astounding or wowy about Cascade’s newest addition.  It is just a good, all round, Online Bingo site that offers a reasonable range of Bingo and side games.  However, if you’ve got a spare tenner, why not give it a go.  The bonuses are worth it!

Graham is no stranger to our the British public, or their TV screens.  He has been giving people love and lifestyle advice for almost twenty years, and is well known for his popular ITV show, ‘Looking for Love’.  Currently, Graham is delivering love advice to the UK on his late night ‘Love Show’, for BBC’s Radio Bristol.  For Gala’s TV Online Bingo Club he will be doling out the bingo numbers, as well as love advice.  Players will be able to interact with the ‘love’ly Graham, during the Live Bingo Show, via text and email.  Looks like this is one premier that won’t soon be forgotten!

Gala Bingo have definitely wooed a hot number this time.  Graham Torrington is an award winning presenter.  Anyone who tunes into the Gala Bingo TV Games will know, the celebrity shows bring in big audiences for Gala.  The new, ‘Don’t you Just Love Friday’, looks set to do the same, with a different guest caller scheduled every week.  Some of the UK’s favourite faces being in the line up.  As usual, you will find the new show on Sky and Freesat 9channel 861).  In addition to being linked via video stream to Gala’s Online Bingo website.  Why join in the fun?  You never know, maybe you’ll get lucky in love and money!!!

  • It's a Big Bright Bingoday for Girls!

By Lisa West on Saturday, 1st August 2009

Bingoday first launched into the world of Online Bingo in 2006.  Earlier this year, they re-launched a new site using the popular ‘Playtech’ Software.  If you haven’t tried out the new site yet, right now they will give you a 200% Bonus on your first deposit.  You can make a minimum £10 deposit, but you won’t be getting any bonuses!  To qualify for the 200%, a minimum deposit of £20 must be made.  That is quite high, compared to a lot of sites, but the big, progressive jackpot Bingo Games are just to much to pass up!

Bingoday also give players 25% on reloads, up to a maximum of £100.  Players who were registered for the old site will have to sign up again.  However, that’s not so bad because there’s plenty of bonuses available for your trouble.  Bingoday has always been a popular Online Bingo website, so this offer probably won’t stay around for long.  Without doubt, if are thinking about giving them a try, now’s probably the time.

One thing that really stands out about Bingoday, is the design.  It just oozes the feeling of ‘girlie community having fun’, but in a very sophisticated way!  The promotions and prizes are geared to girlies, like spa treatments and shopping trips.  So there’s loads of great prizes on offer.  Chatrooms are 24/7, and there are always a few ‘little extras’ on offer here.  They have four versions of the 75 and 90Ball Bingo Games on offer, and tickets start at 2p. Bargain!

Another thing that’s good about Bingoday?  It makes a very pleasant change to see something a little different!  I don’t know how many of these ‘so called’, ‘new’ Bingo websites are mirror copies of the last one, that operator launched.  But it’s too many…. With all the money these guys are raking in, you’d think they’d make a bit more effort to keep their players happy.  It’s little more than we deserve!

Fancy a cruise on the Mexican Riviera?  Who wouldn’t!?  Well, you’d better get down to ABC Bingo, before August 25th.  If you haven’t signed up yet, right now you can get twenty Free Bingo Games, without having to spend a penny.. (although you might feel the urge with all the excitement going on - lol!)  The cruise includes flights and seven nights on the Carnival Cruise Line's SPLENDOR.  All meals are included, travel expenses and entertainment.  This is an absolutely incredible prize for one lucky player out there.

The winner is chosen by a prize draw, and players earn entry to the draw by playing Bingo and referring friends.  At ABC Bingo, the minimum deposit is £5, but you do not need to hand over any cash to receive the twenty Free Bingo Games.  On your first deposit, they will give you a 100% cash match bonus, up to £100.  In addition, they are giving all their newly registered players a 50% bonus on reloads, between twenty and one hundred pounds.  That’s a lot of Free Bingo Games available, on a permanent basis.

ABC Bingo have been around a while now, since 2006 in fact.  They are not one of the big Jackpot Bingo websites, but they are a good place for Prize Bingo.  All sorts of gadgets and goodies up for grabs in their weekly and monthly promotions.  The Mexican Bingo cruise promotion ends on August 25th.  However, they're sure to come up with something just as exciting next month!  There’s also European flights up for grabs, and a £500 Summer Sun holiday every other Thursday.  At the minute, it’s all about getting some ‘fun in the sun’ with ABC Bingo, and Bingo of course!  So, get along to ABC now, and you could be cruising the Mexican Riviera and playing Bingo at the same time.  How’s that for the best of both worlds?

  • You Lucky Swine!!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 5th August 2009

It was a double bubble for ‘Swine Flu’ last week, with two big Bingo winners having to hold off collecting their prizes, due to being struck down with the virus.  Eighteen year old Sam Davies couldn’t collect her nice new, shiny Fiat Panda, from the Sun Bingo, due being quarantined.  However, even when Sam is finally allowed out, she still won’t be driving the car home.  Because she hasn’t even passed her test yet!!

The new Fiat Panda is just one of a hundred up for grabs in a Sun Bingo special promotion, which will run up until September 27th.  To qualify, players must spend £2 a day on the Sun Bingo Games, or £10 on slots, for a single entry into the weekly draw  (guess unemployed Sam invested her money in the right place after all).  Apparently, even Sam couldn’t believe she’d got that lucky.

Twenty eight year old Kevin Packer, a carpenter from Surrey, actually has a lot to thank the Swine Flu for!  When ordered by the doctor to stay home, Kevin thought he might as well kill some time and have a browse on the internet.  Through crazy circumstance and just sheer good luck (apart from a dose of the flu!), Kevin is now £100,000 richer, after placing a free bet at the William Hill casino portal.  As Kevin says himself, he must be the “luckiest flu victim in the world”!

Kevin won playing the progressive Jackpots at William Hill.  He says he’s not a gambler, and it just seemed a good way to pass the time. Wow!  Bet he’s glad he clicked that flashy banner now.  Online Bingo players, at the William Hill gaming portal, can also play slots, instants, scratch cards, and a whole assortment of exciting side games.  Big money Jackpot payouts are regular, with William Hill claiming they pay out around £750,000  month just on the slot games!  However, you might need to have Swine Flu, in order to be eligible for some luck…lol!

  • Ladbrokes Join Gibraltar Exodus

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 11th August 2009

As can only be expected, Ladbrokes have decided to take their custom elsewhere, as are their big rivals William Hill.  The tax hike from the government was supposed to be a way to get more revenue into the treasury, and whether that be ‘fair play’ or not, the government brought it in anyway.  As it turns out, it looks like that decision is actually going to cost the treasury millions, not bring in more.  Offshore operators, do not have to pay the sky high 22% tax rate, for their online gambling operations. PartyGaming and 32Red already operate from Gibraltar, and low taxation is the primary reason for that. Hence, two of the biggest gambling operators in the UK have also decided to put their fortunes there.

Ladbrokes run over two thousand betting offices throughout the UK, and have reported losses and poor profit margins hitting their business, since the recession.  Figures show a  downturn of almost 4% on revenue in the first six months of this year.  If they excluded their high rollers, and just took into account their every day betting figures, that reduction would be more than 25%.

The move should save Ladbrokes, who are now brand leaders for Online Bingo, in excess of £7million.  Since Ladbrokes made the announcement, that they would be moving offshore, shares have risen more than 2%.  Looks like the shareholders and investors will be happier than the treasury!  In stark contrast to the millions the treasury will now be out of pocket, very few, only a handful, of UK jobs will be lost.  The world chief exec of Ladbrokes stated that “competitive pressures” were becoming “intense”, and that running operations in the UK had now become “unsustainable”.  Ladbrokes already has various sectors of it’s online betting operating from Gibraltar.  The move is planned for the end of the year.

  • Is Free Play Bingo Here to Stay?

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 12th August 2009

Data released by an online bingo monitoring website has revealed some astonishing figures, with regards to how many players have shifted to free play Bingo websites.  Of course, the economy is sure to have a lot to do with that!  Today, many of the pay to play sites are opening free play Bingo rooms.  For instance, Foxy Zero, Cheeky Bingo, Costa and Posh.  The data indicates that the current trend could potentially cause a significant reduction in player loyalty, for the big brand name Bingo websites.

The figures show, during July, around a third of online players play at the free bingo websites.  That’s a raise of 3% in the last six months.  Without doubt, the free rooms offer players the opportunity to have some fun, without having to pay for it, which definitely makes a nice change in this day and age!  What the impact will be, on the pay to play sites, in the long term is unclear.  This may just be a phase.  After all, the jackpots are usually just a few pounds, and many players like to play for big money.  So, it seems probable that pay to play sites, offering big jackpot prizes, shouldn’t be affected too much.

The big question is, what exactly do the free bingo websites have to gain?  Running a website isn’t cheap.  The competition is building, and I can’t help wondering, where will it all end?  Or when!  Of course, ultimately, the operators must be banking on the assumption that these free players will, eventually, deposit cash and join in with the pay to play games.  At the end of the day, the free play games are fun, and if players are a bit stretched for cash, there’s no need to miss out on their favourite game.  However, in the long term?  Well, we will all have to just wait and see!

  • Free Bingo? It's Priceless!

By Lisa West on Thursday, 13th August 2009

Priceless Bingo is exactly that!  You won’t have to part with a penny to play here…not unless you want to of course!  Looks like things are going to get even hotter, with yet another free bingo site being added to the mix.  The new Priceless Bingo has been launched using one of the UK’s leading software providers, Cosy Games.  The same software used by Bingo Playground, who recently won ‘Site of the Year 2008’.  Right now, it doesn’t look like they will be giving cheeky or Costa too much to get fluffy under the collar about, but it’s early days yet.

At the moment, Priceless Bingo has one free bingo room, which is open seven days a week, for ten hours a day.  It offers the 90Ball Bingo game with cash prizes of up to £25.  Players can have up to twelve free cards each game, and can also opt to buy another twelve at 10p each.  So, I guess, that means their only free bingo room isn’t actually, entirely, free after all!!

Register without a credit card and Priceless will give you a free fiver.  Register your card and they’ll give you another fiver.  Players can use their bonus money to play any of the side games, and enter the 80ball and 90ball pay to play bingo rooms.  Tickets here are 10p and you must buy between two and six tickets. However, on the bright side, it’s buy two and get one free in the 80ball room and buy three get two free in the 90ball room.

To play for free, players must make a deposit.  However, they are giving a 600% bonus on the first 3 deposits, and another 250% on reloads.   Not only can depositing players enter the free bingo room, they can also take advantage of all the promotions.  Including the big, £5000 jackpot game on a Friday night.  With such huge deposit bonuses up for grabs, and the free £10 to get you started, Priceless Bingo has to be worth splashing the cash.  Well, a little bit at least!

  • Join The Bingo Breakthrough!

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 15th September 2009

The game of Bingo has always been used as a charity fund raiser, as well as a way to provide an excellent source of entertainment for the community.  In the UK, one in every nine women are diagnosed with cancer, at some point in their lives.  Various charities have been set up to help those who have been affected.  As well as provide the money needed, to continue research, and ensure the information’s available, to help reduce the ‘fear factor’, and promote awareness.  The National Bingo Game has been on the go since 1986, and has always been popular with land based players. They have joined with UK charity, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, to launch a new campaign, called Breakthrough Bingo. Together, they plan to raise money, to help this much needed cause.

The National Bingo Game is a linked game, offering some HUGE cash jackpots.  Since 1986, it has been played at both Gala and Mecca Halls across the country; as well as a majority of the independent clubs. Gala Bingo dropped the National game a year ago, so they won’t be taking part in the new Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity push. However, as you may know, they have their own campaign running, to support Sue Ryder.  Another admirable UK Charity that offers support and care to those suffering from Cancer and other terminal, or long term illnesses. Gala hope to raise £1Million over the next eighteen months.

The special Breakthrough Bingo game is not actually Bingo, it’s an instant scratch card, with cash jackpot prizes available of up to £1000!  Tickets are a pound, and the National Bingo Game will donate 11.5% of every ticket sold, plus any taxable profit, to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity.  The Breakthrough Bingo campaign begins on October 5th, and will run for three months. The National Bingo Game launches this campaign every year, and has raised more than £3Million since 2003. Even so, they need as much support as they can get, and players can give that, in an instant!

  • UK Gambling Awareness Day

By Lisa West on Sunday, 20th September 2009

This year, both the land based Bingo Halls and major online operators will be promoting Gambling Awareness Day, which is on October 19th.  As well as the rest of the UK gambling industry.  It is a curious thing, and maybe it is just because Bingo has always been associated with your granny, but a lot of people just don’t see it as ‘gambling’.  Which, of course, it is.  I guess, when it conjures up images of ladies with a blue rinse, it hard to place the concept of it alongside the racing totes.  Even so, the simple fact is, money is lost, and money is won.  Therefore, Bingo is gambling.  Although, of course, it more reflects the lighter side of betting.

The need for public awareness is a real one, campaigns like this are essential for promoting understanding, helping players establish a realistic idea of what ‘responsible gaming’ really means.  As well as being aware that there is help available, counselling and support networks right across the UK. The British Bingo Association have organised the placement of posters and flyers, in all the UK’s gambling establishments.  The association has also made a pledge to continue offering support to the charities who are providing that support.

Wink and Foxy are among the bigger brand operators, who will be taking part in Gambling Awareness Day.  They already offer a gambling ‘self assessment’ test, which allows players to establish whether they have a problem.  As well as keeping an eye out for the warning signs.  Many of the online operators have also been removing previous penalties, previously penalising players who did not depositing regularly.  GamCare are the main organisation, heading the campaign, and their annual conference is also planned for the same day.  The plan being, to make sure Gambling Awareness Day procures some publicity, at both a national and local level.

  • Wink Bingo Pays Out £25K On The Big O!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 23rd September 2009

There has been some serious build up to Wink Bingo’s “Big O” prize draw.  It started in July, as part of their ‘Summer Lovin’ promotions. The £25K up for grabs, is the biggest jackpot, Wink have ever offered.  Literally thousands of tickets and hundreds of players entered into this £1 a ticket, mammoth prize draw.  Everyone has been eagerly waiting for the ‘grand finale’, and finally, the agonising wait is over.  Looks like the thirteenth really is lucky for some, because that’s the day the ‘Big O’ finally ended.  The luckiest player at Wink Bingo right now is “myracar79”.  And you can bet, don’t she just know it!  Now….

When she first heard the news, myracar79 thought the site had been hacked! And rang security to tell them so…  Her first response, being one of utter disbelief, also made her convince herself that it was bonus points she had won, not ££££££’s.  Main problem??? Wink’s Big O promotion had been going on so long, she couldn’t even remember buying any tickets!  Oddly enough, that might actually be the case, because Wink were handing out plenty of freebies, during the promotion.  In which case, ‘myracar79’ has just done the double! Lucky her… ;)

The ‘Big O’ has been the highlight of Wink’s summer promos. Obviously, a few short espresso’s and a tranquilising donut later, myracar79 is in fine form, and looking forward to a trip to Disney Land with the kids. Without doubt, with four of her own, and her sisters too, it won’t be a holiday any of them forget in a hurry!  She hasn’t worked out exactly what to do with the rest of the money yet, and probably won’t get too much time to think about it on her forthcoming holiday.  Obviously, I’d love to help…. So, myracar79, any space for a little one in your suitcase!!!!?????  Hey! Everyone loves a winner!

  • Feel Like A Foxy Flutter??

By Lisa West on Thursday, 24th September 2009

Foxy Bingo has been a big favourite among online players for a long time.  When Parlay Entertainment bought out Cashcade, Foxy was among the biggest Online Bingo brand names, they acquired from the deal.  Many people, especially those working within the industry, wondered how the tables of power would ultimately settle.  And indeed, since that happened, the brand name of Foxy has been splashed about in all sorts of places! Namely, number one to hit the headlines, the new Foxy Zero free-play site; which, of course, has become a very big hit, in a very short space of time. Then, just recently, we have been introduced to Foxy’s new ecommerce efforts, Foxy Street.

As you can see, the Bingo boys down at Foxy have been busy sharpening their pencils, and not sparing the dabbers.  Even so, while we’re all still trying to work out which bright spark chose all those lush, embroidered housecoats, up for grabs at Foxy Street, they have come up with yet another website. Thankfully, this time, the guys have ‘stuck to what they do best’, and produced a fab new gaming website. Actually, to be more precise, a fab new casino website!  Foxy Flutter offers more than sixty great games.  Including all the favourites, slots, instants and traditional casino card classics, like Poker, Blackjack and Baccarat.  If you like the roulette wheel, then you’re definitely going to love Foxy Flutter, because they have seven different versions on the go.

Just deposit anywhere from £20 to £100 and Foxy Flutter will give you a very warm and welcoming 100% cash match slots bonus.  Foxy Flutter has plenty of 1p on offer too, with jackpots of up to £2500!  Just play from Friday afternoon, 1pm, and seven in the evening.  Foxy Flutter has some great weekday promotions too.  In fact, this site offers everything you have come to expect from Foxy Bingo.  Big prizes, plenty of fun, and of course, the fabulous Mr Foxy!

  • Come On Honey, Show Me The Money!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 30th September 2009

Everyone loves a tourney!  And Wink Bingo is always there to accommodate.  Tonight, there’s a sweet £25K up for grabs.  No wonder they called it “Share the Money, Honey”!  That kind of money is definitely enough to get the old Bingo buds watering. The general drift of this game is, players earn points when they play the instant games.  Every £10 wagered on any Instant Game earns 1 Tournament Point.  All the instant games are included in the promotion. There’s a few wild card touneys around too, offering the perfect opportunity to clock up some last minute points. Players also get 5 points if they get the biggest win of the day, and 2 points for emailing Wink with a good reason, as to why they would “love to share”.  Be nice everyone, remember, sharing is caring roomies!

There’s money in the honey pot for the top 100 players of the tournament. To be eligible to take part, players must have made a deposit. That’s it, then just play their favourite instant games.  Show me The Money Honey is a slots tourney, but Wink Bingo have laid on various different tourneys in the past, also the same kind of principle applies.  Play games, collect points, climb the leader board.  Wink are giving away thousands with this promotion, and one hundred players are set to win.  First prize is a storming £5K! Very sweet : )

If you love tourney games, just like “Share The Money honey”, then Wink Bingo is a good place to be.  Wink has fast become a popular online Bingo website,  and they go a long way to keep their players busy.  Their sign up offer is the best on the net, with a £15 bonus in welcome cash, just for signing up. No Deposit Required.  Plus, a 200% cash match on the first deposit and 50% on all reloads over £10.  As well as some ace promotions, players also get 10% cash back on ALL loses.  With an offer like that, it’s gonna be hard not to give these guys the Wink!

  • Everyone’s Making A Beeline for Beeston

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 13th October 2009

We've all heard about the new multimillion pound, revamped, Mecca Bingo club in Beeston.  In Bingo circles up and down the country, it’s become a virtual legend.  And, in a very short space of time.  In fact, there may even be some Bingo fanatics thinking about moving to Nottingham!  Well, if they were ‘tinkering’ with the idea before, Beeston Mecca’s latest ‘shenanigans’ might be enough to edge the odds.  The Beeston Bingo Hall now has ‘smart & arty’, slick and cool waiters, serving up copious cups of frothy cappuccinos. And, as if that wasn’t enough to get their members buzzing, they’re even serving up wine with the fish and chips.  Blimey!

The Beeston Mecca has been doing very well since it opened; revamped and ready for action.  Of course, the latest figures for the Rank Group, who own Mecca Bingo, have showed revenues are on the up.  Which is quite a remarkable achievement, with the troubles of today’s financial climate.  That just goes to show, it can be done… with a lot of ingenuity and some good solid innovation.  The Beeston Mecca is divided into two separate member areas.  Of course, there’s a gaming room, where as we expect, the ambience is quiet.  The other area is where players can talk freely, without disturbing their fellow members, in the games room.  A great place to 'spread the love' when you had a win too ; )

According to Ian Burke, CE for the Rank Group, the two areas are the “Key part of the design”.  Without doubt, players can get more than a little ‘testy’, shall we say, if there’s too much chatter going on, while the numbers are called.  So, it seems perfectly logical, to give players a place to go and ‘have a break’.  As Burke points out, at this Mecca Hall members can “play bingo in the traditional way”, as well as have a social area to enjoy with their friends, and “ not be told to be quiet”.  Sorted!

  • Mecca Making Good

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 14th October 2009

With regards to the Bingo industry, there’s been way too much ‘doom and gloom’ in the press, over the last year.  Of course, it’s been a tough year or two for everyone, and it doesn’t look like it’s over yet.  The Bingo industry as a whole, has had more than its fair share of ups and downs.  None more so, it seems, than Gala Bingo.  However, it looks like they have managed to cut themselves a deal, with their investors; and hopefully, that will be enough to get them back on track.  Regardless, they continue to be the biggest land based operator in the UK. So, things aren’t (maybe) as bleak, as they’re doomsday looking!

Even so!  Mecca Bingo, currently the UK’s second largest land based Bingo operator, is hot on their heals.  And, it looks like whatever they're doing, to get ‘bums on seats’, is definitely working. The Rank Group’s (Mecca Bingo’s parent company) financial reports, for the last three months, ending October 4th, reveal revenues are on the up.  Which does beg the question; exactly what are they doing, that Gala aren’t? Apart from, not sending their employees up Everest!  Or, is it even a question of what they are, or aren’t doing? Maybe they just invested that little bit too much, too soon… and maybe not! and 'funnily enough', it will all work out...

There have been plenty of external factors affecting the Bingo industry of late.  And, they have affected every operator, big and small. The arrival of online Bingo; the recession; a smoking ban; raised taxes; free Bingo!  It’s been a ‘proper’ onslaught of negativity… However, looking around, it does look like things might be on the up and up, for everyone. What with Gala Coral getting some respite; Ladbrokes being bailed, with a £270million injection from investors; and the Rank Group pulling in the £££££’s…

And do you know what? Without doubt, it’s about time…

  • Lucky Player Wins £67K At Gala Bingo

By Lisa West on Thursday, 15th October 2009

A lucky Gala Bingo player is definitely thanking her lucky stars right now;  After winning over £67K on Gala’s Galaxy Scratch Card game.  Of course, the lady in question is suitably gob smacked, especially when she thinks about the fact she only put down a 25p stake… Incredible! Now, while you saying to yourself, “That never happens to me”, remember!  That’s exactly what this lucky player thought.  In fact, she was so NOT expecting that win, that she didn’t even realise she’d won £67,400.  She actually thought she’d won £400! - 10/10 for observation Roomie! - Quite a lot of difference between those two figures, eh? ; ) And, as this lucky, 49 year old lady from Abergele in Wales stated, “she would have been “happy with that”.  But, why be happy with £400, when you can have another £67!  Okay, can you tell?  I am green with envy!

Gala Bingo launched the Galaxy Scratch Card Game just months ago, in March of this year. And, it has become one of their most well liked Scratch Cards - although I get the feeling, it’s about to get even more popular!  Each player has two cards for each round.  Fifteen numbers are called, and players can win for a row, a column, or a diagonal line. To win the progressive jackpot, as this player did, all fifteen numbers must appear in gold.  And, without doubt, that signified ‘star spangled’ pot of gold, for this lucky player!  Which just shows you.  It isn’t about how much you bet, or even the odds.  It’s about playing.  If you don’t play, you won’t win.  If you do play, you just might get lucky.  And, a big win like this one, can bring about a lot of changes.  As the say, money gives you options.  So, with £67K in the bank, you would definitely be getting plenty of those!

  • Foxy Bingo - In The Pink!?

By Lisa West on Friday, 16th October 2009

Every year, Breast Cancer ends the life of almost 12,000 women each year in the UK.  And, each year, it also affects the lives of many more people.  On October 18th, sees the official start of the UK’s Pink Ribbon campaign, which is held every year. The money raised from the campaign is used to provide essential funds, for various medical schools, teaching hospitals and research institutes, based in the UK.  All of which are working hard, to find a way to prevent, and possibly even cure, this crippling disease.

This is by no means a new campaign.  But then, breast cancer is by no means, a new disease.  While the disease continues to take the lives of women, it is necessary to continue the research.  Therefore, although you may well have given your support in times past, it is essential that everyone continues to do so.  And, this year, you can do that, simply by playing Bingo with Foxy.  This year, Foxy Bingo have come up with some easy ways for members to help raise money for the campaign.  All players have to do?  Login, and take part in Foxy’s ‘Play It Pink’ promotions.

While the ‘Play it Pink’ promotion is running, tickets for the American, 75ball, game will be using the P pattern.  P for Pink of course! Foxy will donate a penny, to the Pink Ribbon campaign, every time a player purchases ten cards; in their special Play it Pink, 75ball game rooms.  Foxy will also put a penny in the campaign pot, for every ticket sold, in their big Monday night, £1000, guaranteed jackpot game.  Some of Foxy Bngo’s CM;s are also taking part, organising various fund raising events.  Players can also make a donation, by accessing any of those CM’s special ‘Just Giving’ campaign pages.  So, come on… Let’s be having you! All in the name of a good cause, of course ; )

  • Foxy Zero Changing Fast

By Lisa West on Monday, 19th October 2009

Hey, hey, hey… looks like the tide of change is on its way.  And, as usual, it’s the sly old Fox leading the way!  While current Foxy Zero members may be enjoying the land of “No Deposit Free Bingo”, future roomies won’t be able to sample the same pleasure.  Now, although there may be an echo of ‘moans and groans’, among freebie hunters up and down the country.  Pay to play players are rolling in the ‘loyalty’ promotions. Literally! Operators are literally falling over themselves, to get players depositing their cash.  Because, at the end of the day, what goes out must come in… something like that anyway.  You get the drift!

You can’t drive a car without putting in petrol. And, you can’t keep paying out prize money, without taking in some cash. The whisper throughout the Bingo industry, since the arrival of free play sites, has always been, “How long are they going to keep this up?”.  Or, “How long can they keep this funded”.  Well, it seems, in the case of Foxy Zero, not long.  On one hand, this is a incredibly sensible and logical move, on their behalf. And, it is definitely going to work out to the advantage of paying players.  But, on the other hand….

When Foxy Zero first launched, it was done so as a completely free to play, Bingo website. To most, that means there is no need to part with any cash to play. Although their action is not exactly unfair, and is actually more fair to paying players, it does seem a little.. Well, misleading.  Kind of like, portraying yourself as the cow, when really, you’re the milkman.  While both deliver the same thing, they ain’t quite the same!  But hey!  As long as we get our daily pint, at a fair deal price, it’s cool. Right?

  • Who's The Poshest?

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 21st October 2009

Mirror, Mirror on the wall; who is the ‘Poshest’ of them all?  Posh Bingo carried out a survey, among one thousand of their players, from up and down the UK.  The burning question?  Who do they think is the ‘Poshest’ celebrity, in the UK.  It might seem like an obvious result to some, curiously, not to me!  Scoring 18%, way ahead of the crowd, was HRH; with Joanna Lumley coming in second, grabbing 7% of the votes.  Second and third rankings were a little tighter, with Cheryl Cole receiving 5%.  Although these results might be interesting, quirky even! When you look at the results regionally, things really do start to get interesting.

In the North East, it was a split result for the top spot, between HRH and Cheryl Cole.  Both of whom gained 16% of the votes each.  Of course, this is Cheryl’s ‘home turf’, so there was always going to be a touch of healthy ‘favouritism’ there.  After all, Miss Cole is probably THE most famous WAG about town! However, there’s a LOT of difference between ‘Girls Aloud’ member, and X Factor presenter, Cheryl Cole and HRH! Blimey! Those two definitely don’t use the same hairdresser!  What’s more, around 30% of the Posh players, who voted in the North East, voted for themselves.  Of course, the voting wouldn’t have been complete without the appearance of the lovely Joanna Lumley, with 8% of the votes.  Who, by the way, came in equal to David Beckham…

In the South West, HRH maintained her poll position.  However, this time, tying with Cheryl Cole. Amanda Holden and the ‘Real’ Posh, Miss Beckham herself, also gaining a good majority of votes.  The good old Oxford Dictionary defines the word ‘posh’ as meaning, ‘the quality or state of being elegant, stylish or upper class’.  Obviously, a lot of people seem to be translating that to mean a lot of things.  For instance?  Helen Mirren, Prince Charles, Katie Price and ex hubby Pete.  As Posh Bingo manager, Maurice Karpes, points out, “ "It's interesting who people perceive to be posh." Quite….

  • Costa Bingo Hit’s the Small Screen

By Lisa West on Thursday, 22nd October 2009

Costa Bingo is a frontrunner within the world of online Bingo.  Although starting out as a freeplay Bingo website, recently, they have been trying a slightly different ‘tact’.  Most notably, with regards to the incentives on offer, for depositing players.  Does this mean that we can look towards Costa Bingo, as an up and coming pay to play contender?  Who will be shining his light ‘up there’, alongside names such as Foxy Bingo? Well, with the level of publicity, Costa Bingo are now putting into action, me thinks this might well be the case.

Publicity works… repetition works!  (Try telling the old man that!)  And television publicity works more than most.  That’s a proven fact, and why TV Adverts can cost the advertiser an arm and a leg.  So, it’s no surprise, a get up and go site, like Costa Bingo, has decided to take the plunge.  Unlike many of their competitors, Costa has not opted to sponsor any particular program.  Instead, the new animated advert has been popping up during some mainstream programs, on various channels.  It’s short and sweet, and features a Mr Sunny… lol… he’s does a lot of bouncing about, and shouting about ‘That’s Massive’. In reference to the massive promotions on offer at Costa Bingo. Of course!!!

Operations Manager for Costa Bingo has high hopes for their latest campaign, stating that she feels the new Ads will “take costabingo.com and free online bingo to the next level”.  Next level?  Pay to play Bingo?  Would that be what she means, by “next level”… If that is the plan, will their shift in ‘preference’ simply see the loss of their free players.  Do they care!  Costa Bingo has approximately three thousand five hundred players, logging in on a regular basis.  And, as Costa’s operations manager points out, free Bingo has no financial risks attached to it.  It simply offers free fun, and "the highest level of bingo game play online”.  Not a lot to add there then…

  • Gala Bingo Team - Top of The World Ma!

By Lisa West on Wednesday, 28th October 2009

The twenty four strong team of Gala Bingo workers reached base camp on Sunday. Nine days after leaving from Kathmandu, on October 16th.  What a bunch of super stars they are!  Even though the guys and girls have succeeded in their task, there’s no need to stop giving.  Visit: http://www.galacoraleveresttrek.co.uk/2009/08/27/everest-bingo-game/ and you can still donate, to any one (or all of them if you like) of the twenty four who made the climb.

Patrick King, one of the group, and assistant manager at Gala’s Bingo Hall in Sudbury, was among those hoping to raise £100K for the Sue Rider Charity.  He, like most, is just falling short of his target.  So, they need your dosh Roomies!  Each of the group has their own “just Giving” page.  You can read why, what and how, each and every one decided to take on this enormous challenge.  It’s great to read their stories, and you will be surprised, and inspired to read why, each and every one of them joined in.

According to the groups blog, there were a “few tears” around when they reached base camp.  Without doubt, achieving what you set out to do, when it is such an arduous thing too do, is bound to stir a few emotions.  The trek has taken them 75miles, and 2700 meters up the worlds highest mountain.  You might wonder, how did they manage that? According to them,
“through a combination of sheer will power and team spirit”.

Of course, they have achieved a lot personally, as well as doing a great thing for a very deserving charity. The twenty four Gala Employees who made the climb, were chosen from around 100 original applicants.  Before they even left for base camp, they had already achieved a great deal.  These guys have been through a gruelling experience, and yet, all they are asking you to do, is donate… so donate!

  • Mecca & Gala Out Of The Running - Bingo Operator Of The Year 2010

By Lisa West on Monday, 9th November 2009

Mecca Bingo and Gala Bingo are not on the shortlist, for this years Bingo Operator Of The Year award.  A surprise, as the size of the business is one of the criteria, taken into account.  And, why Crown Bingo did not enter this years competition.  While size may not be everything, it does seem to come into the equation, for just about everything! The UK Bingo Operator Of The Year Award is sponsored by eGaming Review, and is considered a prestigious award, within the industry. Therefore, the release of the short list has been highly anticipated.  The six UK operators, who did make it to the shortlist, are probably not going to be so surprising to you, as those who didn’t.

Cashcade’s Foxy Bingo has been shortlisted….. Of course, nobody will be too surprised at that.  Foxy Bingo is a showcase for Cashcade, and a mighty fine showcase he is too!  Foxy games run on the Globalware platform.  Although only one of Cashcade’s sites made it to the short list, Globalware are providing the Bingo software for two of the short listed operators; Foxy Bingo, and Wink Bingo.  Spacebar Media, an Online Marketing Firm, based in London; own Wink Bingo.  Indeed, Wink Bingo do not only owe their great success to some good promotions, they also owe a lot to some extremely clever and innovative marketing. Of course, the cap has changed a little over the years.  Today, Wink Bingo is a hugely popular online Bingo destination, with a major following of loyal and happy Winkers, logging in on a regular basis.

William Hill Bingo are one of two operators to be short listed, using the Virtue Fusion platform.  Ladbrokes Bingo being the other, who, this year, are in the running for many gaming industry awards.  Tombola Bingo and Jackpot Joy make up the six finalists: Both running their games on ‘in-house’ software. The winner of this coveted award will be announced on November 30th, at eGaming’s ‘Review Awards Gala Dinner’.

  • Bingo Love Is All Around

By Lisa West on Friday, 13th November 2009

People from all around the world, love a game of Bingo.  A game renowned for bringing communities together.  A game where you can win prizes and win friends… what more could anyone wish for?  Well, Catherine Whitehead probably didn’t put a husband on her Bingo ‘wish list’, but looks like she got one anyway! Catherine, thirty eight, joined Gala Bingo online after illness meant she couldn’t go to her local club.  Although she might not of thought it at the time, that was going to be one of the best things that ever happened to her!

Romance began simply… Catherine and her now, soon to be husband, Julian Brook, wishing each other luck in the chat rooms.  From there, the couple moved on to some friendly chats in public, then in private.  Soon, the pair realised they had a even bigger connection than Bingo.  So much so, when they made their first phone call to each other, it went on for seven hours! Catherine stated, “One evening I called Julian at midnight and we spoke until 7am. I'd never felt this way about anyone before, it just felt so comfortable from the start.” After such a connection, there was only one thing left to do.  Meet up of course.

For their first date the couple met in Hull and hit it off immediately.  As Catherine knows, “Meeting each other face to face in Hull just confirmed how compatible we were.”  From that date, things have gone from strength to strength for the two of them.  So much so, they are now off to tie the knot! Julian is forty six and lives in Hull.  That’s around 120miles away from his soul mate, Catherine.  Would their paths have crossed, had they not played online Bingo?  In many ways, it really does seem these two were destined to be together.  Don’t you just love it!

  • Battle Of The Bingo Breaks

By Lisa West on Sunday, 15th November 2009

Who would have known?  A singing Jalapeno with a blonde beard could become a virtual Bingo legend, on the world wide web.  When Virgin Bingo ran their first ever online advertising campaign, was anyone prepared for just how successful it would be?  They may have been hoping… but expecting? Probably not!  And it does seem not, because they wouldn’t be extending it only now, onto the small screen.  Would they? If that had been the case.  Of course, you don’t have to be a marketing genius to understand the power of advertising.  Or to realise the power of a singing Jalapeno!

The Jalapeno was designed to be likened to the man of Virgin Bingo himself, Sir Richard Branson.  Virgin Bingo say, they are bringing the advert to the small screen because of its huge success online, and no changes will be made.  The main aim of the Jalapeno being to make sure everyone knows about the 3hrs of FREE BINGO, available everyday at Virgin Bingo.  The advert will run from November 16th.  Curiously, the revised launch date for Tombola’s Emmerdale ‘Bumper’ adverts.  Is this a direct challenge?  Is it dabbers at dawn between the Jalapeno and those down on the farm?  Will it be sing? Or soup? for the happy Jalapeno….

Catchy Bingo breaks, during some of the most popular shows on TV, are becoming a major advertising tool for many of the UK's leading brand operators.  With Foxy, Wink and Mecca all releasing new advertisements recently.  Ricardo the Jalapeno will be hitting all the main terrestrial and freeview channels from November 16th.  Or, you can still track him down easily online. Try YouTube.... Online Bingo is certainly taking on a new form.  And, never has the competition been so hot and heated… quite literally… as when it comes from Virgin Bingo.

  • 888Bingo Is On Its Way

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 1st December 2009

The 888Ladies bingo site has been a BIG hit online since its launch.  888.com are the owners of 888ladies and will soon be launching a sister site called 888Bingo.com.  This strategy has proven extremely successful for other operators, and given the huge success of 888Ladies, this new site seems destined to pummel its way into the top ranks.  The site is still under construction at the moment, but if you take a quick peek the team at 888 have been working hard to, as they say, “spoil you with the most luxurious online bingo experience on the internet today”… Now, if that doesn’t sound like a promise, I don’t know what does!

888.com own Dragonfish, who in turn own Globalcom - a leading bingo software company.  Therefore, they own the rights to the bingo software used by 888Ladies. The same software used by other leading UK bingo websites, like Wink Bingo and the UK’s 2010, No1 Bingo Operator of the Year, the great Foxy. The new 888Bingo website will also use the same Globalcom software as 888ladies, Wink and Foxy.  So if you like the game on offer at any of these sites, your probably going to be at home with the new 888Bingo.  Although word on the grapevine is… the new site will only be using this software ‘for now’…

Globalcom are looked upon as one of the most reliable and secure online bingo networks. Based on that fact, the new 888Bingo seems destined for success.  At the moment, loos like the company are sticking to what they know, until they get things ‘in order’.  Once they secure a good member base, likelihood is they will make this a ‘stand alone’ website.  The welcome offer hasn’t been revealed yet.  But the 888Ladies are one of the few online operators still offering a ‘no deposit’ welcome bonus.  So keep your eyes peeled, coz there’s every reason to think that this will also be offered at the new 888Bingo site.  In which case, we may as well all give it the once over… at least!!!

  • Hail Caesars Bingo!

By Lisa West on Tuesday, 15th December 2009

After all the festive activities you might think you can’t take any more excitement… well not until the next girl’s night out anyway ; )  Well that’s too bad if you can’t because Caesars Bingo is coming to town!  Sources have revealed that American gaming giant Harrah are launching Caesars Bingo to the UK online bingo market in the new year.  The launch has been scheduled for the first weeks of 2010 and should start things off nicely.

Harrah already have an online casino website, and rumour is that a poker site is also on the cards - pardon the pun!  Even so, this will be there first time working and catering for the UK Bingo market. Curiously, Harrah have opted for the Gamesys software - also used by Sun Bingo and Jackpot Joy.  Not that this bingo platform isn’t popular with players.  It just seems odd that they run the Caesar Casino on Dragonfish, a tried and trusted leading bingo software provider.  Yet have changed hands for their new venture.

The Caesar brand is renowned worldwide, so that should get them off on the right foot. The legendary Caesars palace in Vegas being among the most famous casino-come-resorts in the world.  Eighty five acres dedicated to the glory of Rome and the glory of Vegas.  Crowned king of the strip by those who have been lucky enough to sample what is among the world’s top luxury resorts.

Not a lot more info available at the moment.  But stay tuned!  Caesar Casino has a very generous welcome offer up for grabs - up to £500 in bonus money available.  So there is every indication that the all new Caesars Bingo online will be equally as generous.  So Roomies, keep those Bingo Dabbers crossed - X

  • 888 Holdings Get The Wink For £60Million

By Lisa West on Thursday, 24th December 2009

An offer to purchase Wink Bingo, made by gaming giants 888 Holdings, has been approved.  Which means?  Well, it could mean a whole lot of things!  But what seems to be 100% final, is that 888 Holdings are soon to be the proud owners of this top ranking UK online bingo website.  But how much did it cost? After all, we aren’t talking go-Karts luvvies!  Wink Bingo is ‘up there’, among the shiny, the powerful, the stylish and the EXPENSIVE!!!!  According to sources, 888 Holdings will be handing over £60 million for Wink Bingo.

Without doubt, nobody expected the price tag to be light - Wink Bingo’s pre-tax profits in 2009 were £1.3 million.  The website generating a revenue of around £15 million from January 1st to November 30th. Taking on such a profitable concern has to be good news for 888 - with the UK FTSE index closed at it’s highest for a year only days ago, they seems guaranteed to watch their shares grow…..probably….. substantially.

888 Holdings will be handing over £11Million immediately, not the entire £60Million.  The balance is to be paid based on the earnings for the year, up until March 2011; with a £59.7 million cap on payments.  Wink Bingo currently uses the Dragonfish platform, as do Posh and Bingo Fabulous, both of which are also included within the Wink Bingo network.

Wink Bingo was only launched in 2008, yet this popular bingo website already has around SIXTY THOUSAND PLAYERS!  And counting… It seems a hard task to improve on that!  So what does 888Holdings have in store for Wink bingo… What’s the plan????  If anything!  According to the CEO of 888 Holdings, Gigi Levy, the company are  “delighted to announce the Wink Bingo acquisition …….. as an expansion of our B2C online Bingo footprint in the lucrative UK market.”  As Levy also points out, “The Wink team has a proven track record of excellence in marketing, CRM and execution”.  Adding that they “will be a great addition to our growing Bingo business. In addition the transaction is financially attractive and will be earnings enhancing."  In short?  More customers… more revenue… more profit.. Sounds like a winner!
