Thankfully, it looks like ASA have finally turned their attention to the online bingo industry. Who, quite frankly, have been getting away with it, while the bingo halls have been feeling the heat from all directions! Bingo Hero are a relatively new website, owned and operated by Cheblis; a Cypriot company. The gripe from ASA is about their “£15 Free - No Deposit Required”, publicity to attract new players. After a complaint was lodged, ASA agreed that the publicity was misleading. Why? The winnings from the money cannot be withdrawn. Therefore, the “Free Money” is deemed “Fun Money”… not the real kind, that you get to buy new dabbers with!
It is not that they cannot make this kind of offer, it’s just that they have to make their offer clearer. Bingo Hero did add a *terms and conditions… even so, that’s not enough to ‘cut the mustard’ with the ASA! They want it made 100% clear from the off, without the need to check out the small print. Personally, I agree 100%! It’s about time. To not take action on such misleading publicity seems out of sorts, considering ASA recently clamped down on Tombola, so very hard. Not even for misleading the public, but simply for having a theme that might appeal to younger people. Tombola took the decision very well; piled in a tonne of money to revamp, and did a great job. The latest clamp down on Bingo Hero should push other online bingo operators into some straight talking, and it’s about time!
