Bingo Tax Backlash!

The government has been ‘giving it’ to the Bingo Industry for some time now. Can’t have this, must pay that, tax, no smoking… Blimey! You’d be better off joining the Foreign legion than joining a local Bingo Hall! No wonder Online Bingo is doing so well, at least you don’t have to go outside for a smoke, and can get plenty of Free Bingo. A luxury Bingo Halls can’t afford to offer these days. In fact, the way things are going, the best you can look forward to is a sneaky fag outside the men’s toilet, a Coke and a couple of games for a tenner!

Well finally, Carlisle Bingo Players have had enough! They have joined the new push to protest and lobby their local MP to stop the new tax hype finishing off their already struggling Bingo Hall forever. While the smoking ban is one thing, (although I don’t see any MP’s changing their big, flash, polluting, asthma inducing, climate changing cars for a nice, practical, eco-friendly model) a 7% raise in tax is another… Hey! What do they care? Without doubt, they’ve kept their pay rises inline with inflation…

Obviously, 15% just isn’t enough to redecorate No. 10 this year, or service those big cars. So, as usual, why not give it to UK Bingo Players? just once more? After all, it’s only fun we’re talking about, and after you’ve worked like a power tool all week to pay local taxes and buy a loaf of bread, who needs a bit of relaxation? We’re just want, want, want ey guys?

Over 1,200 local Bingo Players have written to Eric Martlew, the local MP for Carlisle, to protest about the latest tax hype. Peter Lawton, owner of the Rex Bingo Hall located around the Denton Holme area of Carlisle, stated that they, like many other Bingo Halls in the UK, were already struggling to keep their heads above water. Lawton expects the latest rise will add more than £17,500 to his already substantial tax bill… not exactly peanuts! But that’s probably all he’ll have to look forward to this lunchtime!
