How to be a CM
To be a CM you need to be a lively and outgoing person who LOVES to chat. You need to have an understanding and sympathetic nature, enjoy having a laugh and making others laugh. Equally you have to be able to take control and deal with whatever is thrown at you by roomies.
When working as CM it helps if you have knowledge and understanding of basic software programmes such as Excel and Word as well as macro's as these are an integral part of your time spent in the chat room and a fantastic tool that can help make life soooo much easier.
When in chat you have to always be fair and treat all roomies equally. Always try and greet them personally and acknowledge any questions that roomies put to you. If you are unable to answer any queries then ensure that you direct them to right person or support in order that they are satisfied and questions are answered to their satisfaction. Do your best to keep the chat room active and the chat moving, if roomies are quiet then always try to to get them chatting, there is always something to talk about but, never start a topic of conversation that that could be controversial or cause conflict and argument.
Stick to latest hip TV shows or celebrity news/gossip, the weather etc. Usually the simple things like "what are you up to" or "what have you got planned..." work fine. Always try and remember what you have discussed or been told by a roomie so that the next time you see them you ask them about it, this always goes down well with roomies and shows that you have taken the time to remember them and the discussion you had.
When under pressure and busy always try to never let the roomies see this or that you are
struggling as it can mean that they will take advantage, stay positive and you can always slow things down. You are after all in charge of the room.
Never forget that you are representing the site that you work for, strive to ensure that
your roomies have a fun time and enjoy their experience playing on the site.
I enjoy being a CM as you get immense pleasure and satisfaction from seeing others happy and having a good time. It is a great job from the comfort of your own home. All in all, a very rewarding job, that allows you to meet so many different people who become very good friends and like family. You also get to see some win BIG!!!! It is hard to beat the feeling that you have at the end of your shift when you get 20/30 roomies thanking you for the time you have spent with them.
